After a 4 year long wait, the cricket World Cup has come again! I for one was super excited when I found out that the cricket world cup was going to be held in India. Especially after the dramatic final in the 2019 edition. The match went to a super-over after one of the English players - Ben Stokes played an incredible innings. After the super-over ended in a tie, the match was decided by the amount of boundaries either team hit, and England ended up winning! While by that time I was already a huge cricket fan, that game played a big part in my love for the game.

This year, team India is looking really strong and after a defeat to New Zealand last tournament, India is looking for a chance to redeem themselves. What better place to do it in India in front of a loving home crowd. So far, a few games have already been played and the atmosphere has been electric. The Indian players have also been fantastic, they want to win just as much as the fans want them to.

One thing I have been looking forward to for a long time is to go to a World Cup match. Unfortunately tickets sold out in seconds and I was unable to get one, However, on the bright side the games will still be really exciting, at home on the TV or in the stadium. With the teams in such red hot form I wouldn’t be surprised if some records are broken during the tournament. It sure would add an extra level of excitement to the tournament.

In my opinion, South Africa is the dark horse to win the world cup. Their batting is firing on all cylinders and their bowling is quite good as well. India are also in with a good chance at this edition of the world cup especially as it is going to be played in their home country. Australia also has a decent chance as always. However, perhaps the biggest upset of this World Cup campaign was when the West Indies failed to qualify for the tournament. There are sure to be more shocks and surprises in store, which will make this tournament even more exciting.

Over the years India have managed to win a total of 2 world cups and I am definitely hoping that this will be their third. In 1983, India managed to pull off a shock victory over the larger cricketing nations at the time. In 2011 Sachin Tendulkar managed to win the world cup

before he retired after an illustrious decades long career in front of a loving home crowd - a fairy tale ending. The question is, will history repeat itself?
