An evolving future

With the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), change is on the horizon. It sometimes shocks me how oblivious people outside the sphere of technology are about how to use it. Why, it was only the other day I was showing my mother how to use siri! 🙄The problem with change coming so fast is people, especially kids, as the future generation, need to have some knowledge as to how to code and what AI is. Artificial Intelligence is simply machine-based technology which can think like a human brain and learns from experience and it opens pathways to jobs which wouldn’t exist without it.

According to Statista, revenue from the Artificial Intelligence (AI) software market worldwide is expected to reach 126 billion dollars by 2025 and this market will continue to grow in future years.
Is change a bad thing? I for one have started learning some basic coding and it would astonish some people (like my mom 😀), to know how easy it is.

Knowing that this is a necessary skill for the future, I also think that schools should introduce computer programming as a subject in earlier years. AI is something people need to get familiar with, it seems to be the logical next step from coding. It is interesting to think about a future where, before I could even want something, some form of machinery would have been developed to bring it to me.
These days almost all major technology companies are creating their own version of an AI chatbot following the major success of Chatgpt. As per Gartner, a provider of technological consultancy and information, 37% of tech organizations have implemented AI in some form as of June 2023. The percentage of enterprises employing AI grew 270% over the past four years. For a practical example of usage - Amazon is in the process of developing AI to prevent fake reviews which is a big issue with their website.
Although, a major issue with AI is the amount of energy they consume, and especially with all the up and coming models this could pose a significant threat to the environment. And AI training actually consumes more energy than traditional types of computing – just one model's training can burn more electricity in a year than 100 US homes. AI doomsday (machines taking over the world), is now a term which we are coming to hear more and more often but an artificial intelligence takeover would likely be caused simply by a human programming AI to do harmful things.
As our future becomes more and more technology related there is no better time to learn about it. For a lot of people this is going to be their source of income in future years, and as the future comes closer and closer with the advances of technology it is time to embrace the change towards an evolving future.

Did you know kids in schools here are using AI to finish their homework?! That has been a hard pill for me to swallow.
Great, well researched article as always!
Sounds very interesting …a very relevant and informative piece 👌👌 but what about some coding classes for grandparents by grandchildren
So Science Fiction may no longer be fiction! I’m counting on you to explain all of this to me!
